Here I Go Again – Around The World For Four Years This Time!
September 29, 2015 by admin
Now that I’m visiting my family in Colorado, with a son-in-law and grandson to help me figure out my new GoPro camera equipment, I’m trying to shorten the learning curve on this new technology. You will know when my Hero 3, tiny camera makes sense to me, as soon as you see some sharper, wider, more-interesting still and video coverage. Until that magic moment, I’m going to draw upon the past and feature some portraits taken on the road during previous around-the-world trips. I can’t figure out how to shrink these photos like I used to, born in the previous century, as I was! Please forgive their vastness.
My plans now are to fly soon from Denver to Mexico City, Mexico, and bus to San Miquel de Allende, where I hope to stay for several months. I’ll need to cross the border in mid-January to either continue my visa for another three months, or to move on to a different country… perhaps Belize. There’s no hurry to decide and it will all depend upon what I find in my first beautiful, mountainous, colonial city as well as the fun I’m having with the large, retired expat community.
By then, I’ll know my new camera well and will be producing videos for YouTube. Haven’t set up my account yet….since I have no films at the moment…but I did buy the domain name: “80yearsperhour”, so that may be my account name there. Details will follow! I’m a Techno-newbie and a Traveler-oldie. Soon, you can watch it all unfold on film.
The reason for the four-year time span is that I’m centering this trip around my 80th birthday in September, 2017, where we shall celebrate in high style on Lake Victoria (Victory) in Kampala, Uganda. Then, I’ll stay on-the-road for another two years beyond that. Nice and balanced.
