Taking A Vacation From My Vacation
November 19, 2014 by admin
This blogsite is a report on the life of a Senior Citizen, adrift in the world; free to range through the continents, sampling good weather, expat-friendly locations and living well on Social Security. I like to prove that the world is user-friendly and much more affordable than my home turf. Plus, I like to take unusual pictures of colorful life across the border.
But, I do love my family and they live in Golden, Colorado, a suburb of Denver; so, once a year, I arrive for an extended visit….this time, five weeks. I spend a leisurely at-home time with my daughter, son-in-law, and teen-aged grandchildren, Riley and Molly. There are many advantages, with a natural balance of disadvantages
Plus – I can finally unpack my suitcases.
Minus – My possessions suddenly multiply, requiring more suitcases….now that I’m in two-season weather & my stored winter clothing has surfaced.
Plus – By staying still, I can focus on difficult learning curves, such as photoshopping, blog maximization, ebook publishing, while surrounded by computer-savvy family members to answer questions.
Minus – Those subjects are hard to learn and I often go down blind alleys.
Plus – I have a quiet house to concentrate in without the need to scrounge about for life’s necessities.
Minus – The dog believes that he must entertain me by suggesting multiple walks.
Plus – Big Projects accumulate: two more books are now written and need publishing. Photostock websites await my best efforts. Many journals await typing to the hard drive. How-to books need reading and implementing. Even bigger ideas bug me to be born! Because, when I stay still and indulge my To-Do List, I do come up with results.
Minus – That leads to more staying still to give those projects time to mature.
Hence, my upcoming plan to remain in Santa Fe, New Mexico over the next four months; rent an apartment and continue my diligent Learning Curve. Maybe, after that I can “retire” again for full-time travel?
Because, my next BIG IDEA is called “Crunching Eighty” about Aggressive Octogenariansim, whereby I will use my own regenerative body to demonstrate the utter feasibility of pushing age beyond the limits and will initiate a worldwide search for others doing the same thing. Whether this is a Plus or a Minus result of my long rest at home, I will leave up to you and to the future.
